ISLAMABAD: Reflecting on a recent statement of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that India is shying away from talks with Pakistan.
Indian premier Narendra Modi, in an earlier statement, had stated that India was ready to engage with Pakistan on different platforms. However, he added, it was extremely difficult to decide on whom in Islamabad to approach regarding regional peace.

Responding to Modi, Sartaj Aziz expressed Pakistan’s willingness to hold talks with India on several outstanding issues including Kashmir, Siachen, Sir Creek, Visa and fishermen issues.
“It is actually India which is shying away as it knows that it has to discuss Kashmir and other issues on the dialogue table,” Aziz said.
Sartaj Aziz also alleged that the Indian Army had rejected an agreement on Siachen issue that was brokered by the political governments on both sides.
