ISLAMABAD – When Killing of a Pakistani biker by an American diplomat less than a month ago is still a hot potato, another US consulate official rammed his vehicle into a bike in the capital city, injuring two riders.
The incident occurred Sunday night near Secretariat Chowk at the Constitution Avenue when the US diplomat identified as Chad Rex Ausburn, Second Secretary at US embassy in Islamabad crashed his vehicle, Toyota jeep (QN-374 ICT), into a motorcycle being ridden by two persons.
The riders named Nazakat Aslam son of Muhammad Aslam, a permanent resident of Muzaffarabad, and an employee of Motamar Al-Almi Islami, and Muhammad Waseem son of Jan Muhammad sustained injuries in the road accident.
Both bikers were shifted to the PIMS hospital after police reached the spot. One of the injured, Nazakar Aslam, is said to be in critical state he received injures in his head.
Following the incident, Ausburn locked himself in his vehicle and later he let the police officials inside the car. The police took the diplomat and his vehicle into custody and they were at the Secretariat police until a report of the incident was registered.
In initial investigation, police claimed that the incident happened due to the mistake of the bikers. The official said that the diplomat was let to go after recording his statement and medical checkup.
Earlier this month, Colonel Emmanuel Joseph Hall, a US diplomat, hit the bikers after jumping a traffic signal at the intersection of Margalla Road and 7th Avenue. A boy identified as 22-year-old Ateeq Baig died on the spot while the co-rider sustained injuries.

After the pressure build up on the government, the authorities placed his name on the blacklist, restricting him from leaving the country.

In a hearing of the case, Deputy Attorney General Raja Khalid informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that Col Joseph had a diplomatic immunity; therefore, he could not be detained and tried in Pakistan.
