SARGODHA – An officer of Punjab Police was arrested for allegedly raping a female student in Sargodha city of the province.
A case has been registered against the assistant sub inspector (ASI) and a private security guard, who is still at large.
Authorities have suspended the cop and launched departmental proceedings against him. Police said raids were being conducted to arrest the security guard.
Medical reports have also confirmed that the student was raped. Meanwhile, DPO Sargodha has formed a two-member committee to investigate the incident.
Earlier this month, a sub-inspector (SI) of the Islamabad police was suspended and put behind bars illegally detains two children for two days and physically abusing them.
The action against the SI was taken no a complaint lodged by relatives of the children with Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
