Mobile phones prices to go up as Pakistan revises import duties

LAHORE – The government of Pakistan has ramped up import duty on mobile phones by 15 to between 44-52 per cent on Friday.

Karachi Electronic Dealers Association (KEDA) informed that income tax rates on mobile phones imports, duties, general sales tax (GST), and levy have been revised upwards by the government, adding that, a condition of Type Approval has also been enforced on the import of used mobile phones.

The KEDA President Muhammad Rizwan said the increment in the duties may possibly hike up mobile phones prices by as much as Rs20,000.
