Family demands trial at ICJ as Pakistan buries prisoner killed inside Indian jail

SIALKOT – The grieving family of Shakirullah, who was brutally beaten to death by inmates in an Indian jail, has urged the government to take up his case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Shakirullah was murdered in Jaipur jail in India by fellow inmates a few days ago and his body was handed over to Pakistani authorities at Wagah border on Saturday, and he was laid to rest in his native village.

Talking to the media at Jessarwala-Daska on Sunday, his family said that Pakistan must expose the real face of India. The family members said that Shakirullah was stoned to death by Hindu extremists in jail, though his protection was a responsibility of the Indian government.

Meanwhile, Shakirullah’s post-mortem report has revealed that he died owing to a grievous head injury. According to the report compiled by a six-member team of medical experts under the stewardship of the Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital’s medical superintendent, the Pakistani national died from a head injury.
