PM Imran orders immediate refund of

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Monday to refund the excess amount charged in terms of the Sui-gas bills.

The premier revealed that as per the departmental investigations, inflated bills were dispatched to as many as 30 per cent consumers for which an immediate reimbursement has been ordered.

Chairing a meeting on Tuesday, the prime minister ordered strict departmental action against the officials responsible for dispatching inflated bills to the consumers.

Finance Minister Asad Umar, Petroleum Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan and other senior cabinet members were present on the occasion.

Earlier last month, Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ghulam Sarwar Khan had announced that the government will review the new slab of gas bills. The minister had faced flak after he expressed that utilizing geyser for heating water was a luxury.

The recent surge in gas prices angered the public as well as the political giants across the country. Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed also expressed in a TV show that he received Rs 40,000 bill against gas usage for a month.
