ISLAMABAD – The federal government has placed a ban on 11 organizations associated with Jama’at-ud-Da’wah, Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The ban comes as Pakistan gears up to implement the comprehensive National Action Plan devised to battle militancy and extremism in the country.
The organizations banned on Saturday include Al-Fazal Foundation Trust Lahore, Al-Easar Foundation Lahore, Al-Rehmat Trust Organization Bahawalpur, Al-Furqan Trust Karachi, Al-Median Foundation Lahore, Idara e Khidmat Khalaq Lahore among others.
The ban is also a vindication of Pakistan’s strong resolve to avoid blacklisting by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) which would issue its verdict over the matter in few months; Pakistan is currently placed in grey-list.
