Man alleged of facilitating Data Darbar attack released after brief detention

LAHORE – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab Police has released a citizen, who was earlier being believed to be facilitator of Data Darbar suicide bomber.

Zeeshan was taken into custody last night, and was released on Sunday after investigation.

His mobile phone and two sims have been sent to forensic lab for further investigation.

Pictures of Zeeshan, resident of Mor Aimanabad were aired on different media channels as an alleged facilitator in Data Darbar terrorist blast.

The resident of Aimanabad ad in a video message claimed to be innocent and having no connection to terrorists and terrorist activities.

According to him, he took a three-wheeler ride to Data Darbar to offer Fateha and when he came out of the shrine, he heard the explosion. Zeeshan said he became upset when local TV channels aired his pictures with news.

At least 13 people, including four policemen, have been killed while 30 others injured in a suicide attack on a police van at Gate 2 of the Data Darbar, Lahore on May 8.

The suicide bomber had targeted a police van in the suicide attack.

The security forces are conducting operation to arrest suspects believed to be involved in the Data Darbar blast. Several suspects have been arrested so far in various operations.
