ISLAMABAD – In what appears to be another u-turn, the incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has abandoned the plan to convert the palatial PM House into a research university.
The government has not earmarked funds for converting the PM House into the promised Islamabad National University in the budget for the next fiscal year 2019-20, Dunya News reported.
It has also emerged that Dr Atta ur Rehman, the head of PM’s task force on Science & Technology has been directed to furnish proposals for converting the PM House into an engineering university.
Sources say that the PC-1 for the Islamabad National University as well as feasibility report were devised by HEC, however, the plan stands canceled as of now; rough estimates say Rs 30 million were spent at a ceremony organized regarding the institution in January this year.
