Govt committed to control smuggling, says PM Imran

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the scourge of smuggling has damaged the national economy and government is committed to control this menace in an effective way.

He was chairing a high-level meeting to prevent smuggling in Islamabad, the Radio Pakistan reported.

The premier said the development of the agriculture sector and promotion of industrial sector are very imperative to steer out the country from the swamp of loan.

The meeting decided to constitute a high-level committee in the supervision of Interior Minister which will include members from the interior ministry, commerce division, Finance Division and representatives of provinces.

The committee will review all aspects of smuggling and will present its recommendation for effective monitoring on borders, amendments in existing laws and other related affairs within a month.
