ISLAMABAD – The Accountability Court on Friday dismissed the National Accountability Bureau plea against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice President Maryam Nawaz in the Avenfield reference.
The PML-N vice president was summoned by Judge Mohammad Bashir earlier this month. According to the National Accountability Bureau, the trust deeds produced by her in the case were bogus.

Strict security measures were put in place outside the judicial complex and unconcerned people were barred from entry.

Maryam’s court appearance came a day after the former prime minister and PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s arrest from NAB in relation to the LNG case.

In September 2018, the Islamabad High Court had suspended the sentences for Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (r) M Safdar in the Avenfield corruption reference.

On this occasion, police have arrested five women among several PML-N activists.
