ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Thursday expressed his serious concerns on implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) saying “many sections of the NAP are not being followed by provincial governments.
While heading a session of high level apex committee the prime minister said provincial governments were following several provisions of the NAP accordingly however attention should be paid to other points as well.
The provincial governors, chief ministers, AJK Prime Minister Abdul Majeed, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, heads of intelligence agencies and Chairman NADRA were present at the meeting.
During the meeting overall progress on implementation of National Action Plan against terrorism was discussed. Reports of all the four provincial Apex Committees will be presented during the meeting.
The chief ministers agreed to all the proposals put forth by the interior minister regarding important issues including regularisation of affairs of NGOs and uniformity in policies on arms licenses, bulletproof vehicles, and private security companies.
The Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim also complained the federal investigation agencies were interfering in the matters of provincial government. I am the chief executive of my province and must be informed before any action is taken, he said.
The prime minister assured him the resolution of his reservations.
Earlier Interior Minister Ch Nisar chaired the opening session of the meeting. It discussed matters pertaining to religious seminaries, non-governmental organisations, and progress made under the NAP.
