ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Wednesday announced that crescent of Muharram-ul-Haram 1437 AH has been sighted in Pakistan.
The Ashoora days will be marked on October 24 and 24 to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

In a statement the Director General Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noorul-Islam told media that Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman chaired the meeting of the Committee at Pakistan Meteorological Department building at Main University Road, Gulistan-e-Jauhar in Karachi.
Other members of the committee also held meetings of their respective Provincial/District Ruet-e-Hilal Committees.

The moon sighting also marks the start of new Islamic year in Pakistan.
