Stone falling from deteriorating Metro bridge kills a man in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI (Staff Report) – One person has been killed after being hit by a stone that fell from deteriorating bridge of Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metro Bus route, said media reports.

The 25-year-old man, who was later identified as Niaz Khan, was walking under the Metro route when a big stone detached from bridge hit him. He was severely injured and was rushed to nearby hospital however could not survive.

The reports further added that many bridges constructed as part of the million dollar project have started to crumble and are a serious danger for the locals.

Meanwhile Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif has asked for a committee to be formed to repair such bridges while seeking a report on the incident.
