ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – A Supreme Court justice has said no one will be allowed to defy court orders, even prime minister himself.
“If the court orders are not implemented, then we can also summon the prime minister. Once the prime minister is summoned, then he will not return to his office,” remarked Justice Azmat Saeed while heading a two-member SC bench that heard a contempt of court case on Monday.
The case, pending for last eight months, is about the delay in issuance of promotion order of Customs officer Umar Farooq.
“There is much capacity in Adiala Jail. No one will be allowed to defy court’s orders. The Establishment Division secretary has been summoned repeatedly but he did not turn up to file the response,” the SC judge said while expressing displeasure over non-appearance of the Establishment Division Secretary.
The court ordered the attorney general to ensure the issuance of promotion order within 48 hours.
