ISLAMABAD — Metro Bus service in the Twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will remain suspended for three days amid new arrangements for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
After the announcement of three holidays in two cities, authorities announced the suspension of bus service from October 14-17 Monday to Wednesday.
Residents are also advised to plan their travel accordingly during the service suspension as the region prepares for this significant international gathering.
SCO summit will host Prime Ministers and senior representatives from multiple nations. China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and India are participating.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to hold bilateral meetings with delegation heads during summit, focusing on critical topics such as the economy, trade, environmental issues, and cultural and social connections.
Market in Rawalpindi will also remain closed for three days for security purposes during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran announced.
Police have also ordered the closure of marriage halls, cafés, and restaurants in capital from October 12 to 16, with legal action for non-compliance.
