LAHORE (Web Desk) – A Pakistan-based leader of Afghan Taliban has died at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre.
Abdullah Gull Rayan, a spiritual leader of Afghan Taliban, had been admitted at the hospital for cancer treatment, an Urdu daily reported on Friday.
Gull was running a madrassa (seminary) in Quetta, from where several fighters had joined Mullah Umar in Taliban’s fight against United States and NATO armies.
It was his second visit to Shuakat Khanum, the only proper cancer hospital in Pakistan, as disclosed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan last year.
Abdullah Gull lived a quite life. His name came to the light after the startling disclosure of Imran Khan in an interview with renowned TV anchor Hamid Mir. The cricketer-turned politician said he came to know about the treatment of an Afghan Taliban leader in his hospital when he received a letter from them, thanking him for treating one of their leaders.
The report about Gull’s death, however, could not be verified by the hospital administration, government or Taliban spokesperson, the “Nayi Baat” reported.
