ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The government has expressed its willingness to engage the opposition for talks to prepare agreed Terms of Reference of the commission to investigate allegations leveled in the Panama Papers.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad this evening, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Law Minister Zahid Hamid, and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Law Barrister Zafarullah said the government has decided to form a committee to negotiate with the opposition.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the opposition did not want to solve this matter and want to continue it only in the media.
He said a section of the opposition wants to protect some of its leaders, who have also established offshore companies.
The Minister said the opposition should avoid creating confusion and dictating the Supreme Court. He said the judiciary in Pakistan is fully independent and it can summon anyone to probe the Panama leaks.
The Minister regretted Imran Khan’s allegations on PML-N for the mistreatment meted out to women during PTI’s rally in Lahore.
He asked PTI and media to provide photographs of those, who misbehaved women in the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, Law Minister Zahid Hamid presented an overall comparison of the Terms of Reference presented by the government and the opposition. He said government’s ToRs are more comprehensive, while opposition only targeted the prime minister.
