LAHORE – It is very likely that Eid ul-Fitr might be celebrated on the same day in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan this year, probably for the first time in recent history.
Under the supervision of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold a meeting in Lahore on tuesday to sight the Shawwal moon.
According to sources, Middle East states including Saudi Arabia will hold a session to sight the moon today whereas the experts said that possibilities of moon sighting in Pakistan are higher on Tuesday.
According to meteorologists, if Saudi Arabia celebrates Eid after observing 30 fasts and Pakistan does it after 29 fasts then both countries will observe Eid on the same day.
Weather specialists said that the moon will also be witnessed in Punjab, including the provincial capital Lahore, which is an indication that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan would celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday.
Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Islamabad would also meet for the same purpose.
