And the Guinness record for World s Largest Lantern goes to…

SHARJAH – Souq Al Jubail in Sharjah has earned the Guinness World Records title for the largest lantern in the world, the Emirates 247 reports.

Standing at exactly 15.5 meters high and 5.6 meters wide, the lantern, which was designed and built by the Global Event Management Group, is located at the entrance to the Souq.

In accordance with Guinness World Records’ guidelines, the working structure is an exact scaled replica of an actual lantern and casts a gorgeous, warm glow over the entrance to the market.

“We were absolutely thrilled when we received the news that we had been awarded the prestigious Guinness World Records title,” Ali Al Suwaidi, Director of Souq Al Jubail, said.

The lantern, which now stands as an iconic new landmark at the waterfront of Sharjah, will bring even more people to the market to enjoy high-quality, cost-effective produce from the farm and sea, he hoped.

The lantern has been on display since the 27th of June and will be a permanent feature at the Souq as part of an ongoing Ramadan Festival.
