Rich tributes paid to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed on martyrdom day

RAWALPINDI – A wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the day of martyrdom of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti, Nishan-e-Haider was held on Monday at his grave in his hometown Ladian.

Garrison Commander Kharian Maj Gen Nadir Khan laid a wreath on behalf of Chief of Army Staff (COAS), an Inter-Services Public Relations press release issued here said.

A smartly turned out contingent of Punjab Regiment presented salute in a traditional manner and laid the wreath.

Major Raja Aziz Bhati Shaheed was given the country’s highest gallantry award, Nishan-e-Haider, for his gallantry services during the 1965 War.

Starting from September 6, Major stood firm with his men befittingly responding to every Indian attack. He foiled at least seven major attacks of Indian forces until he became a target of a tank on September 12.
