Pakistan concerned over passage of US law allowing litigants relief against foreign entities

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan on Wednesday said that the promulgation of national laws with extra-territorial application sets a dangerous precedent that is likely to further complicate an already complex global environment.

Pakistan has been closely following developments leading to the passage of a law by the US Congress, which allows civil litigants relief against foreign individuals, entities and governments, the Foreign Office spokesman said in a statement.

The spokesman said that Pakistan was convinced that the world today was better served through initiatives promoting amity and cooperation, rather than xenophobia and confrontation, particularly, those targeting countries or religions.
