Rs 30b defamation suit: Court summons Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD – A session court has issued notice to Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif to submit his response in a case of Rs 30 billion defamation suit against him filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Secretary General Jahangir Tareen.

District and Sessions Judge Kamran Bisharat Mufti heard the defamation suit on Friday.

Tareen’s counsel informed the court that Shehbaz Sharif had levelled baseless allegations regarding writing off bank loan against his client.

“Shehbaz Sharif was served a court notice, but instead of seeking apology, he repeated his accusations,” the lawyer said.

After hearing his arguments, the judge issued notice to the CM, asking him to submit the reply by Nov 12.
