Pakistan to attend Heart of Asia conference in India

NEW DELHI – Pakistan has agreed to attend the ‘Heart of Asia’ conference in India slated to begin on Saturday, Pakistan’s High Commissioner ABdul Basit confirmed.

In an interview, Pakistan’s High Commissioner said Pakistan can never be expected to look the other way on issue of ceasefire violations by India.

‘Pakistan has urged India to immediately stop violation of ceasefire on Line of Control to avoid further escalation’ he said.

The High Commissioner expressed United Nations Human Rights Commission and Organization of Islamic Cooperation have expressed concerns over gross human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir by Indian forces.

To a question, he replied, Indus Water Treaty is a permanent treaty and it can neither be changed nor abandoned unilaterally by any party.

Abdul Basit said Pakistan is attending “Heart of Asia” conference as it is pivotal for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
