KARACHI- Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has threatened to take his protest to the streets if the government did not accept his four demands.
Addressing a press conference at Bilawal House, the PPP chairman said that it did not seem as if the incumbent government was serious about accepting his demands, and warned that it will experience real opposition after December 27.
His demands are: forming a parliamentary committee on national security, adopting the PPP-drafted bill on Panama Leaks probe, implementing decision of the multi-party conference chaired by Asif Zardari on CPEC and appointing a full-time foreign minister.
“I’m forming a committee [for holding talks with the government] on the four demands and if the demands are not met by Dec 27, I’ll announce a long march against the government,” he told participants of the 7th and concluding day ceremonies of the party’s foundation day here on Tuesday.
“Then they will learn about the power of Bhutto and of the masses,” he said, adding a dash of Punjabi to his Urdu speech.
Bilawal stated that he had given enough time to the PML-N government, mentioning that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the first to have offered himself for starting investigation with regard to the Panama case.
As a democratic prime minister, Nawaz Sharif should respond to the public, Bilawal said.
Nawaz Sharif has been elected third time as prime minister, he said, and if Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and Yousaf Raza Gilani could appear before the court there was no reason for Nawaz Sharif to be exempt.
Responding to a query, Bilawal stated that he was just new in politics and unaware of how people practice politics, but was a firm believer in the value of truth.
