CJP seeks report on alleged torture of child maid in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar took another suo moto notice of the alleged torture of a child maid by an additional session judge on Wednesday.

The apex court has summoned report from the Registrar Islamabad High Court in 24 hours. The suo moto notice was taken following the media reports claiming that an attempt was made to burn the child after she was tortured. According to the Supreme Court notice, the issue was suppressed after the father of the maid forgave the suspect, Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife.

The girl’s father said before the court that he forgave the judge and his wife, and had “no objections” to the court granting bail to the suspects. In an unexpected turn of events, he claimed that he had conducted his own investigation into the matter and found that the case was false.

The case was highlighted by the media after shocking pictures of the girl stormed the internet. Afterwards, the police took the girl into custody after recovering her from the judge’s house.

In a First Information Report, however, she stated that she had been living at the judge’s house for nearly two years.

She claimed that she was often beaten up in the house. Most recently, she alleged ‘Mano Baji’ shoved her hands onto a burning stove and then beat her after a broom went missing in the judge’s house.

Disclosing the shocking details regarding her captivity, she said the owners of the house usually locked her up in a storeroom at night in addition to starving and thrashing her.
