PPP rejects govt bills for revival of military courts

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Friday rejected two separate bills tabled in National Assembly for reinstatement of military courts.

The government had presented the 28th Constitutional Amendment Bill and the Army Act Amendment Bill 2017 for developing the consensus of all political parties.

On Thursday after holding a meeting with heads of all  parliamentary parties in Islamabad,  Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced that a two-year consensus was evolved in the military courts.

Later, the PPP had refused the reports that the party had agreed to a two-year extension for military courts.

“The PPP totally and roundly rejects any statement purportedly issued by any official agency creating a false and erroneous impression of the PPP having agreed to the draft proposals of the government,” a statement said released by PPP Senator Farhatullah Babar as quoted by Dawn news.
