Pak Army foils massive terror bid as six terrorists gunned down at Pak-Afghan border

KHYBER AGENCY – Pakistan Army on Friday foiled massive terror bid and shot dead six militants as they attacked a check post in Khyber Agency.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, terrorists from across the Pakistan border attempted a physical attack on FC Post in Khyber Agency. Pakistani troops effectively responded and killed six terrorists.

‘In exchange of fire, two FC soldiers were also martyred’ said a statement.

Earlier this month, five soldiers of Pakistan army embraced martyrdom and at least 10 terrorists were killed during an anti-terrorism operation on three border checkpoints in Mohmand Agency.

The incident happened at a time when Pakistan and Afghanistan are on a rough patch in terms of bilateral relationship.

Pakistan shut Torkham and Chaman border crossings after a deadly suicide attack at the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar on February 16 in which over 80 people dead. The attack was claimed by Jamaat ul Ahrar, a splinter group of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, operated from Afghanistan.

After the attack, Pakistan had handed Afghanistan a list of 76 wanted terrorists believed to be hiding across the border. Kabul had, however, rejected the allegations and insisted Pakistan reopened the key crossings between the two countries.
