SC likely to announce Panama case verdict next Monday

ISLAMABAD – The supreme court of Pakistan is likely to announce the Panama case verdict next Monday, it has been learnt.

Although no official announcement has been made regarding the probable date of the verdict but according to a report by The News, the decision of the much-awaited case can be out by next Monday dated April 3.

The principal argument behind Monday, as the day for announcement of verdict is the fact that a reference against Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of Islamabad High Court by the Supreme Judicial Council was scheduled for Monday but it was deferred to April 3.

The reason for the deferment, according to the sources is the fact that Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan had other engagements. They both are part of five-member bench that continued proceedings on the landmark Panama case.

The apex court has not disclosed any date, what so ever for the Panama case verdict but the presence of all five judges in capital hints at the announcement of decision.

Political analyst also opine that the decision could be delayed further so that mercury soars a bit more subsequently thwarting any agitation after the verdict in the purview of severe weather conditions.

The supreme court had reserved judgement on February 23 after a series of daily hearings. Both PML-N and PTI had vowed to accept the decision that the masses are eyeing for quite a longer period of time.
