PIA may suspend Karachi to Mumbai flights

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is ‘likely’ to halt flights from Karachi to Mumbai, Dawn news quoted airline sources.

The PIA operates two flights a week between Mumbai and Karachi and it is the only airline between the two countries as no Indian airline flies to Pakistan.

Dawn quoted PIA Spokesperson Daniyal Gillani as saying, “PIA is considering suspending flight operations along the Karachi-Mumbai route, but a final decision is yet to be made on the matter.”

He also refused the media reports which claimed that flight are being suspended due to rift between the two countries, adding that actual reason behind the action is economical.

He informed that the decision may be taken due to decreasing traffic along the route, adding that flights between Karachi and New Delhi will not be stopped.

Relations between India and Pakistan have gone worst after two soldiers were allegedly killed and mutilated in Kashmir earlier this week by Pakistanis at the Line of Control.
