KARACHI – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) issued summons on Tuesday to chief of Pak Sarzameen Party Mustafa Kamal for recording his statement in a case of illegal sale of plots.
The graft-buster summoned Kamal on Wednesday (today) regarding a case that pertained to illegal sale of around 400, 11-square-yard plots allocated for seashell craft sellers near Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine when Kamal was serving as the mayor of the metropolis.
Allegedly, the plots were first merged together to increase their size and then were sold to different people.
The PSP supremo will not appear before the body but is expected to give his reply in written over the issue. His statement will be added in the case file.
Kamal who was elected as the Mayor of Karachi in 2005 served for five years in this capacity. In 2010, he was shortlisted for the ‘best mayors of the world’ by The City Mayors Foundation.
After a successful Mayoral tenure, he became a senator in 2012 but reportedly due to his differences with the top leadership of MQM, he resigned from his position in 2014 and went abroad.
Mustafa landed back in Pakistan in 2016 and launched his own political party by the name ‘Pak Sarzameen Party’ alongside Anees Qaimkhani.
