Pemra issues notice to Geo Entertainment, two others for violating Ramazan transmission s guidelines

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has issued show cause notices to three TV channels, including Geo Entertainment, for violating the guidelines regarding Ramazan transmission.

Pemra has served notices on Geo Entertainment, Sindh TV and KTN for not following the directions to carry out transmission in Ramazan. The channels have been directed to submit their reply within three days.

Pemra accused the channels of broadcasting the quiz programmes before 9 pm in violation of para V of the directions.

The authority also summoned the chief executives of the channels to attend the hearing personally. It also directed that action will be taken on not complying with orders.

In May, it had issued guidelines for media outlets to follow during the holy month. According to the notification, the game shows would not be aired on any channel before 9 PM.

During the last ten days of Ramazan, the game shows would be banned completely.
