Panama JIT summons Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD – The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) mandated to probe assets of Sharif family by the Supreme Court has summoned former interior minister and PPP leader Rehman Malik for interrogation.

The JIT had asked Malik to appear before the team on June 13, but he submitted an application with the team seeking new date for appearing before the JIT due to his non-presence in the country.

The team asked the Malik to bring his verified report on Hudaibiya Paper Mills and relevant record with him while appearing before the team to record his statement.

Now he will appear before the team after completing his tour abroad.

In 1998, as an additional director, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prepared a detailed and documented report, which establishes the money trail through which Nawaz Sharif purchased his properties in the names of his children. Later, he took office of interior minister but no action was taken in this regard.

PM Nawaz Sharif

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has issued summons to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to appear on Thursday (June 15, 2017) after he returned to Pakistan after visiting Kazakhstan.

Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that the prime minister has decided to appear before the JIT respecting the law of the country.
