China’s vice premier Wang Yang to visit Pakistan for Independence Day celebrations

ISLAMABAD/BEIJING – Wang Yang, the vice-premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, will attend the Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony in Islamabad on Monday, says a press release from the Chinese Embassy said.

The Chinese leader is to start a two-day visit to Pakistan tomorrow (Sunday).

The vice-PM will lead a high-powered delegation and is expected to meet President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi during the visit.

He is also expected to participate in the inauguration ceremonies of several China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects and witness the signing of bilateral memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the two countries.

In March, a contingent of the guard of honour of the three services of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) took part in the Pakistan military parade held in Islamabad to mark Pakistan Day.
