Nehal Hashmi admitted to PIMS following heart problems

ISLAMABAD – Senator Nehal Hashmi was admitted to the cardiac centre of Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (Pims) following cardiovascular disorders.

According to hospital sources, a procedure was carried out to insert three stents to remove blockage from his arteries.

Revealing the details regarding the treatment, a doctor at Pims said Mr Hashmi had heart problems and therefore angioplasty was performed.

“Though in such cases, patients are discharged within 24 hours, VIP patients tend to stay on in the hospital a little longer,” he added.

Mr Hashmi was admitted to the hospital ahead of the hearing of a case pertaining to him at the Supreme Court on August 21.

Senator Hashmi, in a speech in May, had threatened those probing offshore assets of Sharif family of dire consequences. The video went viral on the internet prompting the top court to take suo-moto notice.

Following the explosive speech, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif removed him from the office of PML-N Sindh general secretary and also directed him to resign from his Senate seat.

However, he refused to comply with the orders to resign from Senate.
