LAHORE- Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, headed off to London on Thursday skipping the scrutiny procedure of Election Commission of Pakistan for by-elections in NA-120.
Kulsoom Nawaz is boarding flight PK-757 and would not be appearing before the ECP for scrutiny of her nomination papers today.
The ECP had asked Kulsoom, a candidate of ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz for NA-120 elections to appear before it at 3 PM today, however, she is currently heading to London.
A copy of Kulsoom Nawaz’ ticket shows that the former First Lady would be returning to the country on September 24, whereas the by-elections for NA-120 are scheduled to be held on September 17.
Former Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan, Kanwar Dilshad claimed that it was mandatory for a candidate to appear in personal capacity before the commission for scrutiny of nomination papers.
On the other hand, the commission has accepted the nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s contestant Yasmin Rashid.

Rashid while talking to newsmen expressed that her opponent Kulsoom did not mention her iqama that was valid till 2015.
“A total of 25 objections have been raised against Kulsoom Nawaz,” Yasmin said and alleged that Kulsoom was deputy chairman of Capital FZE, a firm owned by her younger son Hassan Nawaz.
Nawaz Sharif, a third-time prime minister of the country was disqualified on July 28 for concealing his employment with the same Capital FZE, following which the ECP announced the scheduled of by-elections in the constituency NA-120.
