Hasan Ali, Shakib fined for misconduct during BPL match

DHAKA – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has penalised Comilla Victorian’s Pakistani player Hasan Ali and Dhaka Dynamite’s skipper Shakib Al Hasan for violating code of conduct during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The board on Tuesday imposed a fine of 25 percent of the match fees on Ali for breaching Article 2.1.7, which falls under the level one of the BCB’s code of conduct, during a match of the BPL played on Nov 20. Besides, two demerit points have been added to disciplinary record of the convicted player.

The Article 2.1.7 relates to using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his dismissal during a match.

The Pakistani medium pacer admitted his misconduct and accepted the penalty proposed by match referee Samiur Rahman.

On the other hand, Shakib was fined 50 percent of the match fee for his offensive reaction to an LBW appeal, which was rejected by the umpire, during a match. He was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2.4 of the code of conduct. In addition, three demerit points have been given to the player.

The Article relates to “using language or gesture(s) that is seriously obscene, seriously offensive or of a seriously insulting nature to another player, player support personnel, umpire, match referee or any other third person during a match”.

A day before, Hasan Ali added another feather to his cap as he took five wickets in a T20 match in a BPL match against Dhaka Dynamites.

The 23-year-old placed second bowler in the T20 cricket history who got five wickets in just one match.
