ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced the schedule for by-polls in NA-154, Lodhran, constituency of the National Assembly.
According to a notification issued by the election regulator, the by-polls in the constituency will be held on Feb 12, 2018.
Candidates may file their nomination papers from Dec 26 to 28, while scrutiny of the same will be held on Jan 5, 2018.
ECP will issue the final list of candidates after scrutiny on January 16 and issue electoral symbols to the candidates on January 18.
The NA-154 seat had fallen vacant after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmaker Jahangir Tareen was disqualified for life by the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) under Article 62 (1) (F) of the Constitution for concealing his offshore firm.
Tareen had defeated his Pakistan Muslim league Nawaz rival Muhammad Saddique Khan Baloch in 2015 by securing 138719 votes and rumors are swirling that his son Ali Tareen would now be contesting the election, though an official announcement in this regard is awaited.
