Initial probe rules out armed attack on Justice Ijazul Ahsan’s house: report

LAHORE – Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) in its examination report ruled out the possibility of the gun attack on the residence of Supreme Court Judge Justice Ijazul Ahsan last month, saying it was aerial firing.

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), formed to probe the incident, has consolidated its initial findings in the light of the forensic report, Dawn News reported.

The investigation team, headed by Additional Inspector-General (AIG) of police Muhammad Tahir, sent the report to Punjab Inspector General retired Capt Arif Nawaz.

On April 15, unidentified people allegedly fired at the outside of the residence of Supreme Court judge Justice Ijazul Ahsan’s residence in Model Town, Lahore in two separate incidents.

The forensic agency had examined two bullets found from the residence of the judge following the firing incident. The media outlet quoted PFSA Director-General Dr Ashraf Tahir as, “The two samples (bullets) analysed at the PFSA were found to be stray bullets”.

The crime scene was reproduced by firing bullets using a 9mm pistol from different ranges before concluding the report, he said.

“We have also explained the outcome of the PFSA report to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar and Justice Ijazul Ahsan,” Tahir said.
