Three security forces personnel martyred in terrorist attack: ISPR

RAWALPINDI – Five terrorists were killed on Friday after Pakistani forces responded to a cross-border attack from Afghanistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

According to the military’s media wing, terrorists from across the Pak-Afghan border attempted to attack Pakistan Army posts along the Afghan Border in the Shawal region of the North Waziristan Agency. However, all physical and fire raids by the militants were repulsed by the security forces.

Three personnel of the Pakistan Army also embraced martyrdom during the exchange of fire.

The martyrs included Havaldar Iftikhar, resident of Sargodha, Sepoy Aftab from Chitral and Sepoy Usman resident from Gujarat.

The cross-border attacks by terrorists came two days after the killing of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah was killed in a US drone strike in Afghanistan’s Kunar province.

Fazlullah, who led the TTP from 2013, was killed in the US strike on Wednesday, confirmed a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Defence.
