Aitzaz apologises to Sharif family after Begum Kulsoom s death

LAHORE – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Aitzaz Ahsan Tuesday apologised to the Sharif family for his controversial remarks about Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s ailment, who passed away earlier in the day after battling cancer for over a year.

Aitzaz had doubted the illness of the former first lady and said: “Harley Street Clinic is owned and operated by Sharif family.”

Commenting on the demise of the former first lady, Aitzaz said he is saddened that he could not apologise to Sharif family in Kulsoom’s life.

“I will attend Kulsoom Bibi’s funeral,” he said, adding: “I should have gone to the jail and met Nawaz Sharif.”

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz has died of cancer in London’s Harley Street clinic today.

She had been battling with lymphoma (throat) cancer since August 2017. According to reports, her health deteriorated last night after which she was placed on life support earlier today.

The former first lady will be laid to rest in Raiwand on Friday.
