LAHORE – The days-long violent protests by the Tekhreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) against the Supreme Court verdict to overturn Asia Bibi’s death sentence were called off after the religious party and the government signed the five-point agreement.
But there might be made some under the table deals by both parties, apparently satisfying the topmost demand of the agitators regarding the restoration of Bibi’s conviction, as TLP’s Patron in Chief of Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri claimed in a video clip circulating on social media.
The TLP bigwig claimed that the government and the secret agencies’ officials had assured them of restoring the conviction of Asia Bibi, a statement that was apparently given to please the party workers as the government and security departments cannot interfere in court decisions.

He further claimed that the government delegation informed them that there is conflict among the judges of the top court over the verdict, announced by the SC earlier this week acquitting Bibi of blasphemy charges.

A five-point document of the agreement between the two sides surfaced on Friday night after negotiations between the government and protesters culminated successfully.
As per the five-point agreement:
1: A review petition, which is the right the complainant, will be filed against her acquittal and the government will not oppose it.
2: A prompt action will be taken to place Asia Bibi’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL).
3: Legal action will be taken for the protesters if killed following the acquittal of Asia Bibi.
4: The protesters who were arrested on October 30 and later on will be released soon.
5: Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) will apologize to those whose sentiments have been unnecessarily hurt during the protests.
