FAISALABAD – Lawyers on Wednesday stormed the sessions court during protests, demanding the establishment of a bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) in Faisalabad.
The violent protester broke into the premises of the court and starting damaging the property. The gates of the court were, earlier, closed by police due to the protests.
During the protests, the agitators entered office of the deputy commissioner forcibly, making the officials to stop the ongoing meeting. The DC office is located near the sessions court.
When the lawyers broke into the DC office, the official was busy in a meeting with the members in the committee room to discuss the various issues.

They raised a ruckus in the committee room due to which women members of the meeting got afraid, forcing the official to end the meeting.
Lawyers have launched a movement seeking the establishment of an LHC in Faisalabad to ensure speedy and cheaper justice to 15 million people of the industrial-cum-business hub of the country.
Faisalabad District Bar Association president Amjad Hussain Malik, in August this year, said that the government had already established high court benches in Rawalpindi, Multan, Abbottabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Mingora, Hyderabad, Larkana and Sukkur, but Faisalabad – the third biggest city of the country – was still deprived of it.
Last month, lawyers protested outside the apex court’s Lahore registry on Oct 17 against the registration of a ‘false’ terrorism case lodged against them for assaulting a police official.
The lawyers had reacted to Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar taking a suo motu notice of the incident which occurred at a local court earlier.
During the hearing of the case, the Justice Nisar dismissed the lawyers’ plea for suspension of first information reports (FIRs) lodged against them. Members of the Lahore Bar Association and Punjab Bar Council were present at the occasion.
