ITU announces Center for Civic Innovation to address local problems

LAHORE – Information Technology University (ITU) has announced the establishment of ITU Center for Civic Innovation platform, an initiative to enable enthusiastic researchers and innovators to use a data-driven approach for solving local problems.

The new center provides researchers and IT professionals to work with the government for community-based problems and civil society challenges through an amalgamation of research, the use of technology and innovative interventions.

In this new platform, people will develop innovative civic solutions — from crime alerts to election monitoring, from crop yield analysis to female harassment reporting.

The fellowship is 6 months long and the selected participants will be paid a monthly stipend as well.

“We have established the Center for Civic Innovation at ITU which would enable you to work with the government, become a civic innovation fellow, participate in our civic hackathons, work with government systems and data,” stated ITU in its blog post.
