Reporters boycott Faisal Vawda s presser over rude response to tough question

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani reporters staged a walkout from a press conference by Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda on Wednesday in the federal capital.

The media representatives got angry when the federal minister responded rudely to a journalist’s question during a press conference on the Mohmand Dam construction project.

“I will take your mic and put it on the side,” Vawda threatened the reporter. On this, the media men left the room despite Vawda’s apology at the Press Information Department (PID) where his presser was taking place.

Following the boycott, Vawda also walked out without completing his press conference.

Earlier, at the presser, the minister for water resources said: “We will not come under any pressure and are only focusing on our work.”

“It is not acceptable for a suspect who is serving a jail term to question me during a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee,” he added.

“I am not somebody’s father’s servant that I submit a reply on a day’s notice. On Monday a notice was sent to my ministry to submit a reply by Tuesday,” the federal minister continued.

Construction work on Mohmand Dam will be started from January 13, 2019. “Some people are trying to make this project controversial but we will not allow this at any cost,” Vawda maintained.
