FAISALABAD – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader and former MPA Shaikh Aijaz was taken into custody from Faisalabad on Tuesday.
The PML-N’s city president was shifted to an undisclosed location after he was detained from his residence in the Satyana Road area; he had been elected chairman of the Faisalabad Development Authority as well.
Though police did not disclose the reason behind arresting the politician, political commentators say it could be due to show of support to Rana Sanaullah as Aijaz had addressed a press conference to announce protests after the arrest of PML-N Punjab President.

The arrest comes a day after Rana Sanaullah was arrested from Motorway by the Anti-Narcotics Force; he was sent to jail on 14 days remand today.
As party loyalists geared up to stage a protest against the arrest of Rana Sanaullah, police raided the houses of various PML-N activists and arrested around 24 people, however, an area magistrate released all arrested PML-N activists on Tuesday.
