PM Imran confirms return of Asad Umar to federal cabinet
ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Imran Khan confirmed on Friday that former finance minister Asad Umer will rejoin the federal cabinet.

Meeting a group of senior journalists and anchors, the premier said the changing of ministers was only to change the batting order, adding that the govt will make use of all suitable individuals for the betterment of the country.

The premier admitted that in the absence of experts, technocrats were being assigned responsibilities as he has to show the performance of his government.

PM Khan did not miss taking an aim at the opposition and expressed that they were trying to get away with their corruption while using democracy as an excuse.

Reiterating his conviction, he said he does not care about his premiership but will not grant another national reconciliation ordinance (NRO).

The premier quoted the statement of Chaudhry Nisar who alleged that Bilawal Bhutto and Ayyan Ali’s bills were paid by the same accounts and questioned whether he made up those cases back in 2016.

During the meeting, he further informed newsmen that the government was bringing forth seven bills for the welfare of the public and if opposition backs treasury benches, it will be a good thing.

On the issue of his continued absence from the National Assembly, the premier said he felt ashamed to sit in the house because of the language used by the opposition.

Former finance minister Asad Umar stepped down from his position last month after he was offered to take up another portfolio; the premier also shook up the cabinet in the first reshuffle.

Umar, however, confirmed that he would stand up the Prime Minister in his efforts to build Naya Pakistan. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh had replaced him as the Advisor on Finance, who is now dealing with the International Monetary Fund for a bailout package.
