ISLAMABAD – Disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday appeared in the accountability court to attend the hearing of three corruption references filed by the NAB against him.
In an informal discussion with reporters before the start of the hearing, he spoke out against his political rival, Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for assailing him. He said Zardari was abusing him to “please someone”.
The former premier called on all political parties to show unity for the betterment of the country.
The former premier also rejected that any deal like the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) is going to happen between him and someone other. He highlighted that PPP and Gen (retd) Musharraf had singed NRO.
Sharif said he was being punished for putting the country on the road of development, eliminating terrorism and loadshedding.
The former prime minister today made his first appearance in the court since his indictment in the references regarding London flats, Azizia Steel Mills and other companies.
His daughter, Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law, Captain (retd) Safdar also reached the court to attend the hearing on Avenfield apartments in London.
The court has adjourned the hearing till November 7 as it did not receive the orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to club the references against Sharif family.
