Chinese PM Li Qiang to visit Pakistan in October to sign key infrastructure deals

ISLAMABAD – Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang is due in Pakistan in mid October, in the first visit of any Chinese premier in last one decade. The landmark visit is said to be a big boost for multi-billion dollar corridor projects.

Reports in local media quoting sources claimed PM Li Qiang will land in Islamabad on October 14, with major agreements expected to be signed, including proposals for the phased construction of the ML-I railway track.

There is also a proposal for Chinese prime minister to address joint session of Pakistan’s Parliament. He will also attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) heads of government meeting on October 16.

Islamabad will host Shanghai Cooperation Organisation heads of government huddle from October 15 to 16, preceded by a ministerial meeting and senior officials’ discussions on financial, economic, socio-cultural, and humanitarian cooperation among SCO member states.

Pakistani leadership expressed desire for enhanced collaboration with Bejing in key sectors, including IT, artificial intelligence AI, and modern agriculture. Two sides emphasised strong and enduring friendship between Iron Borthers, , highlighting China’s consistent support during challenging times.

Lately, Commander of the People’s Liberation Army Ground Forces General Li Qiaoming was in Pakistan as he engaged in high-level military discussions, focusing on regional security and defense cooperation amidst a changing geopolitical landscape.
