One killed, ten injured in Islamabad explosion

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – A man was killed while ten others were critically injured when a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder in a chemical shop exploded in Sector E-11/4 here on Wednesday, police and rescue sources said.

The explosion took place at Al-Falha Manzil a complex which was housing Iqbal & CO, a medical equipment company dealing in imports and exports.

According to initial reports the medical equipment company had kept a chemical on the premises which exploded.

The intensity of the explosion was so severe that the inside of the floor were the chemical was kept was completely destroyed.

Police and rescue teams arrived at the scene immediately after the blast and moved the injured to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences(PIMS) hospital.

The dead and injured persons could not be immediately identified.
